Wyburd, Albert Vernon

Dates: [1895-1916]

War Service: Albert Vernon Wyburd served as an Able Seaman in the Merchant Navy. He was killed by a mine on the 7th July 1916 whilst serving on the S.S. GANNET (London). He is commemorated on the Tower Hill Memorial.

Location of Memorial: He is remembered on the war memorial at St Paul's Church, Deptford.

Details: Albert Wyburd was the son of Annie Wyburd, of 5 Warwick Street Douglas Street Deptford, London, and the late Frederick Samuel Wyburd.

Albert Wyburd was born on 28th January 1895 and was baptised on 10th February 1897 at Camberwell Corpus Christi Mission Church. He attended Mina Road School and Midway Place School.

In 1911 he was living at 7 Pragnell Street, New Cross with his mother Annie and he worked as a tea packer in a warehouse.
