Gunner 140419 JAMES WOODLAND of 296 Seige Battery was killed in action on 4 October 1918. He was recalled for duty at the age of 24 on 15 January 1917 and went to France on 6 April 1918.

He was buried in La Baraque British Cemetery, Bellenglise.

Location of Memorial:
He is remembered on the memorial at Catford police station.

Details:
He was the son of Mrs Rose Woodland of 61 Bingham Road, Frindsbury, Kent. Before being recalled for duty he had been a police constable, serving as PC 860 at Peckham.
