Wood, Herbert James

Dates: c1893-1918

War Service: Herbert James Wood enlisted on 3rd November 1915 and served as a Private with the 8th Battalion Queen's Own (Royal West Kent Regiment). His service number was 10673. He died on 3rd April 1918, aged 25, and is buried at Mont Huon Military cemetery Le Treport.

Location of Memorial: He is remembered on the St Pauls, Deptford WW1 War Memorial.

Details: Herbert James Wood was baptised 26 January 1893 at St. James Church, Hatcham.
On the 1911 census he was recorded living at 69 St John's Road, Deptford with his parents, James John and Clara Amy, and his sister Mabel Amy. He was working in an ironmongers. He married Beatrice May Crake on 19 February 1916 in Lewisham.
