WILLIAM EDWIN RICHARD WHITLOCK was killed on the night of 19 March 1941 in an air raid on the Royal Victoria Victualling Yard in Deptford.

He was 24 and employed by the Admiralty as an Acting Storehouse Assistant. He was posthumously awarded the King’s Commendation for Brave Conduct for his work that night. The award was announced in the London Gazette of 27 May 1941. He was the husband of H Whitlock of 44 Leckwith Avenue, Bexleyheath.
