Whitehouse, Charles

Dates: 1885-1919

War Service: Charles Whitehouse served as a Flight Serjeant in the Royal Air Force and his service number was 148275. He died on 23rd September 1919 after sustaining injuries in an accident, aged 34.

Location of Memorial: He is buried in Brockley cemetery, where his name is recorded on the screen wall listing those whose graves have no headstone.

Details: Charles Whitehouse was the son of Frederick and Sarah Whitehouse, born 1884. In 1901 he is recorded living with his parents Frederick and Sarah. He had four brothers Frederick, Frank, Ernest and Bertie, and three sisters Emma, Alice and Rose.

He married Beatrice in 1903 and in 1911 he is recorded living with his wife at 63 Napier Road, Deptford and his children, Beatrice (aged 7), Charles (aged 3) and Bert (aged 8 months). At this time Charles was employed as a labourer at the dockyards.
