Sergeant JOHN W WESCOMBE of 10th battalion Queen's Own (Royal West Kent Regiment) died aged 22 on 24 February 1919, probably in Lewisham Military Hospital. He went to France with his battalion on 24 March 1915.

He is buried in Brockley cemetery, where his name is recorded on the screen wall listing those whose graves have no headstone.

Location of Memorial:
He is remembered on the memorial at the church of St Catharine, Hatcham he is probably the Pte. J. Wescombe remembered on the Lewisham Military Hospital memorial.

Details:
He was the son of Mrs. Jane Wescombe, of 40, Foxwell Street, Brockley. His brother Walden died on 19 October 1918 and is also buried in Brockley cemetery.
