War Service:
Second Corporal 197899 OTTO WALLIS WALLIS-STOLZLE of 5th Army Wireless Company, Royal Engineers died in a motor accident near Varennes on 25 April 1917. He joined the 20/Londons in August 1914 and after a period working in Intelligence was transferred to the Royal Engineers.
He is buried in Varennes Military Cemetery near Albert.
Location of Memorial:
He is remembered on the memorials at St Dunstan's College and St Hilda’s church, Brockley. He was Scoutmaster of the 1st Crofton Park (St Hilda’s) Scout troop and in 1920 the Troop provided a guard of honour for the unveiling of the memorial. He is also remembered on the Lloyds of London war memorial.
Details:
He was born in February 1894, the eldest son of G. A. Wallis-Stolzle, of ‘Lyndhurst’, Chudleigh Road. He was educated at St Dunstan’s College and worked for C T Bowring & Co, Insurance Brokers.
