Vincent, George Alfred Robert

War Service: George Alfred Robert Vincent was an Ordinary Seaman in the Royal Navy and his service number was J/23669. He died on 1st November 1914 at the Battle of the Coronel.

Location of Memorial: George Vincent is remembered on the Chatham Naval Memorial. He is also remembered locally on the war memorials at the churches of St Luke's, Deptford and St Paul's, Deptford.

Details: George Vincent was born on 4th March 1896 and was baptised on 3rd May 1896 at St.Lukes Church, Deptford. At this time the Vincent family were living at 14 Hanlon Street, Deptford.

In 1911 the family were living at 205 Grove Street, Deptford and George was employed as a van boy. He had two sisters, Victoria and Ivy.
