Private T4/096225 FREDERICK VARLEY of the Army Service Corps died of bronchitis in Lewisham Hospital on 20 April 1916, aged 39.

He is buried in Ladywell cemetery CWGC Plot where his name is recorded on the wall listing those whose graves have no headstone.

Location of Memorial:
He is remembered on the Lewisham Military Hospital memorial outside University Hospital Lewisham.

Details:
He was born in Westminster.He enlisted on 13 April 1915 at the age of 38. He was the brother of Mrs Sarah Lucas of kentore Street, Bermondsey. Before enlisting he worked as a loader.
