Gunner 947572 ALFRED VANNER of ā€˜Dā€™ Battery, 285 Brigade, Royal Field Artillery was killed in action on 19 April 1918, aged 24.

He is buried in Le Grand Hasard Military Cemetery, Morbecque near Hazebrouck.

Although he was buried in Northern France his name appears on the screen wall in Brockley cemetery, where his brother David is buried.

Location of Memorial:
He is remembered on the memorial at the Church of St James, Hatcham.

Details:
He was the son of Thomas Charles and Elizabeth Ann Vanner, of Malpas Road, Brockley. His brother David died on 10 May 1918.
