Second Lieutenant EDMUND POOLE UNDERWOOD of 29th battalion Royal Fusiliers was killed in action on 30 July 1916, aged 29. At the time of his death he was attached to the 17th Battalion.

He has no known grave and is commemorate on the Thiepval Memorial to the Missing of the Somme.

He is remembered on the memorial at Blackheath Congregational Church

Details:
He was the son of John and Laura A. Underwood, of Highfield, Chalfont-St.-Giles, Bucks and husband of Jeanne Underwood, of Darwall St., Walsall. His brother Thomas died on 13 November 1916 while serving with the Honourable Artillery Company.
