War Service:
Private 2939 FREDERICK TRICE of the 13th (Kensington) Battalion, the London Regiment died on 1 July 1916, the first day of the Battle of the Somme. The Kensingtons were part of the 56th (London) Division engaged in the ‘diversionary’ attack on the village of Gommecourt intended to prevent the Germans switching troops and guns to face the main assault further South.

He is buried in Hebuterne Military Cemetery.

He is remembered on the memorial at Brockley School and on the battalion war memorial in Kensington Central Library.

Details:
He was the son of William and Esther Trice of 18 Glenwood Road, Catford.
