Ernest Alfred TARR, Sergeant, 'E' Company 57 Battalion, County of London Home Guard aged 51 was killed together with Lieutenant WILLIAM W. RAY, MM, Lieutenant Albert Edward Henry Smith, Corporal Frederick Chapman Lucas and Lieutenant Charles Christopher Pacy when their Headquarters at Brockley Road School was destroyed by a Flying Bomb on 19 June 1944.

He is buried in Hither Green Cemetery

He is also remembered on the memorial at St. Hilda's Church, Crofton Park.
