Leading Seaman WILLIAM FREDERICK ALFRED SYNDERCOMBE died on 28 March 1916.
The ship’s boat in which he and 38 other seamen were returning from shore leave to the cruiser HMS Conquest got lost in a snowstorm and sank. All on board were drowned.

Location of Memorial:
He is buried in Brockley cemetery, where his name is recorded on the screen wall listing those whose graves have no headstone.

Details:
He was 29, the son of Frederick Last Syndercombe, of 21, Bawtree Rd., Woodpecker Rd., New Cross.
