Sergeant CH/8599 EDWARD HENRY SWINYARD Royal Marine Light Infantry, of the Deal Battalion of the Royal Naval Division was killed in action on 25 June 1915. He enlisted in the RMLI on 7 August 1895. On 12 September 1914 he was promoted to acting sergeant. Later in the month the RND moved to Dunkirk and took part in the defence of Antwerp. He left for the Middle East theater on 28 February 1915.
He is buried and remembered in Redoubt Cemetery, Gallipoli, the funeral being conducted by the Reverend C W G Moore.

Details:
He was the husband of Ellen Swinyard (nee Bassett) of 29 Deptford High Street. They married in the autumn of 1905.
