War Service:
Second Lieutenant HERBERT STORCH MC of the 13th battalion, the Yorkshire Regiment died of wounds on 24 August 1918. At the time of his death he was serving with the 1st battalion East Yorkshire Regt.

Citation for his Military Cross reads:
“For conspicuous gallantry and devotion to duty when commanding a platoon. Although attacked by a force of the enemy at least four times superior in numbers to his own, he drove them off and maintained his position against a further attack on the following day. By his personal example of determination to give no ground he enabled his platoon to resist the repeated attacks on their position.“

He is buried in Serre Road cemetery No.1

He is remembered on the war memorial in the church St. George Catford

He was the son of Max and Sophie Storch, of 21, Carholme Rd., Forest Hill.
