Stanford, A G

Dates: 1897-1919

War Service: A G (George) Stanford served as a Private in the The Buffs (East Kent Regiment) and later transferred to the Labour Corps. His service number was 4353. He died on 9th April 1919 at Lewisham Military Hospital and is buried at Brockley Cemetery.

Location of Memorial: He is buried in Brockley cemetery where his name is recorded on the screen wall listing those whose graves have no headstone.

Details: At the time of the 1911 census George was living at 27 Berthon Street, Deptford with his parents Robert and Elizabeth (also known as Mrs C E Stanford). George was employed as an apprentice at Peek Freans factory.
