Sub-Lieutenant BASIL WILSON SMYTH Royal Naval Volunteer Reserve died on 13 July 1915 while serving with Nelson Battalion of the Royal Naval Division.

He has no known grave and is commemorated on the Helles Memorial, which stands on the tip of the Gallipoli Peninsula and serves as the memorial for the whole Gallipoli campaign and place of commemoration for many of those Commonwealth servicemen who died there and have no known grave.

He is remembered on the and on the war memorials at St Mildred’s church, Lee and the Lewisham United Reform Church.
