Flying Officer CHARLES PETER KEITH SMITH Royal Air Force Volunteer Reserve died on 11 April 1945, while serving with 92 Squadron. His Spitfire was shot down while he was taking part in a low level ground attack mission near Lugo. He was 22.
He is buried in Faenza War Cemetery near Bologna, Italy.

He is remembered on the Roll of Honour at the church of St John the Baptist, Southend and in the Memorial Book at Addey and Stanhope School,, Deptford.

He was the son of Edward and Eva Smith, of Catford.
