Simmons, Archibald John

War Service:
Pioneer WR/278191 ARCHIBALD JOHN SIMMONS of the Royal Engineers Railway Troops Depot died on 19 February 1919. He served in the South African War.

He is buried in Etaples Military Cemetery. Most of the men buried here came from the many hospitals in the area.

Location of Memorial:
He is remembered on the war memorial at St Hilda’s church, Brockley.

Details:
He was born in Newport, Isle of Wight in the spring of 1882,the son of Herbert and Sarah Simmons. He married Lily Burley Wilson in West Ham in the spring of 1910. They lived at 149 Crofton Park Road, Brockley.
