Second Lieutenant GEORGE HENRY SILLEY of 364 Battery, 139 Field Regiment died on 27 May 1940, aged 22.

He is buried in Outtersteene Communal Cemetery, Bailleul. The cemetery, originally laid out during the Great War, was used again in 1940 for the burial of those killed in the fighting which covered the withdrawal of the British Expeditionary Force to Dunkirk.

He is remembered on the memorial to 91 and 139 Field Regiment, Royal Artillery in St Swithun’s church, Hither Green.

Details:
He was the son of George Frederick and Florence Amelia Silley, of Eastbourne, Sussex .
