Private 4290 CHARLES STANLEY SIGN of the 2/20th Battalion, London Regiment died on 25 August 1916, aged 22.

He is buried and remembered in Ecoivres Military cemetery, Mont St Eloi, near Arras.

Location of Memorial:
He is remembered on the memorials at Lee Church of England School and Blackheath Congregational Church and also on the 20th London Regiment Roll of Honour.

Details:
He was born in Lewisham in the autumn of 1893, the son of Thomas and Annie Sign. His brother John died on 22 August 1918 while serving with the New Zealand Field Artillery.
