Shrubsall, Alfred Charles

Dates: 1893-1915

War Service: Alfred Charles Shrubsall served as a Gunner in the 95th Brigade Royal Field Artillery and his service number was 5589. He died on 8th January 1915 at High Wycombe aged 21.

Location of Memorial: He is buried in Brockley cemetery where his name is recorded on the screen wall listing those whose graves have no headstone.

Details: Alfred Charles Shrubsall was born on 28th December 1893 to George Henry and Jessie Maud Shrubsall and he was baptised on 11th February 1894 in Deptford.

In 1901 he was recorded living at 41 Stanley Street, Deptford with his parents and his brothers George Henry and Albert A. In 1911 he was living at 18 Stanley Street with his parents and his brother George. He was employed as a butcher.

His mother, Jessie Maud Shrubsall, died on 5th May 1913, aged 42.

His brother George was killed in action while serving with the 20th London Machine Gun Company in France, on 22nd August 1917, aged 25.

His brother Corporal Albert A. Shrubsall RNLI died on 9th April 1918, aged 21.
