Lieutenant STANLEY GILBERT SHINN of 20th (Blackheath and Woolwich) battalion London Regiment died on 13 December 1918, aged 28. His promotion to lieutenant with effect from 1 September 1918 was announced in the London Gazette of 13 September.

He is buried and remembered in St Sever Cemetery Extension, Rouen. Most of the burials in this cemetery were of men who had died in the numerous hospitals located around the town of Rouen.

Location of Memorial:
He is remembered on the war memorial outside the church of St Hilda in Brockley and also on the 20th London Regiment Roll of Honour.

Details:
He was the son of Alfred and Harriett Elizabeth Shinn, of 27 Northwood Road, Forest Hill. He was the husband of Emily Georgina Shinn, of 35, Percy Gardens, Tynemouth, Northumberland. They married in Lewisham in the summer of 1916. His brother Leslie died on 6 April 1918 while serving with the 21st London battalion.
