Sheldrake, Leopold Garnet

War Service: Leopold Garnet Sheldrake served as a Private in the Royal Sussex Regiment and his service number was 10230. He died on 22nd October 1920, aged 40.

Location of Memorial: He is buried in Brockley cemetery, where his name is recorded on the screen wall listing those whose graves have no headstone.

Details: Leopold Garnet Sheldrake was the son of Thomas Sheldrake, a brewer.

In 1901 he was recorded living at 1a Tressillian Road, Brockley with his mother, Mary, his brothers Ralph and Sydney, and his sisters, Georgina and Louisa. He was employed as a clerk for Army and Navy Stores. He also had another brother Augustus.

In 1911 he was recorded living at 1a Tressillian Road, Brockley as a boarder and was an unemployed warehouse man for Army and Navy.
