Gunner 74358 ALFRED GEORGE SEWELL of 71 Heavy Battery, Royal Garrison Artillery was wounded by a shell burst and died on 18 October 1918 in No. 61 Casualty Clearing Station at Dozinghem.

He is buried in Vadencourt British cemetery near St Quentin.

He was remembered on the memorial in Clifton Hill County School, New Cross.

Details:
He was born and lived in New Cross at 26 Ludwick Street. He was called up on 12 April 1916 at the age of 18 and posted to the Royal Garrison Artillery. He had previously worked as a general labourer.
