Lieutenant WILLIAM EDWIN SANDYS Royal Flying Corps was killed in action on 5 September 1917 while serving with 32 Squadron. He enlisted during the first week of the war in the First Canadian Contingent and later served in the Army Service Corps.

He is buried in Lissenthoek Military Cemetery.

He is remembered on the memorial in All Saints church, Blackheath.

Details:
He was the son of Francis and Mary Sandys of 10 Wemyss Road, Blackheath, Mary, his mother lived there 1915 - 1918. He was born in Calcutta. He was the husband of Elsie Sandys of Anson Road, Tufnell Park. 5 September was his wife’s birthday.
