Russell, Richard Samuel

Dates: 1883-1918

War Service: Richard Samuel Russell served as a Lance Corporal with the Army Service Corps and his service number was CMT/3520. He died on 8th November 1918, aged 35, at the 1st London General Hospital, Camberwell.

Location of Memorial: He is buried in Brockley cemetery, where his name is recorded on the screen wall listing those whose graves have no headstone.

Details: Richard Samuel Russell was born in Clapham c 1883. In 1911 he was recorded living at 18 Dorset Buildings, New Street Mews, Baker Street, London with Frances Matilda Syson. He was employed as a motor car driving instructor. He married Frances Matilda Syson later that year and they had a son, Henry.

His next of kin was listed as his brother, John Russell, while his effects following his death were noted as being released to his sister in law.
