Sergeant (Air Gunner) DEREK LAWSON ROWLAND Royal Air Force Volunteer Reserve was killed on 3 May 1945 while serving with 487 Squadron Royal New Zealand Air Force.
At 1643 on 3 May Derek Rowland’s Lockheed Ventura ‘EG-V’ took off from RAF Methwold to attack a power station NW of Amsterdam. Eleven 487 squadron aircraft were lost in this operation.

He is buried in Haarlemmermeer (Hoofdorp) General Cemetery, near Amsterdam.

He was 21. He was the son of Lieut. Frederick Rowland and Jean Rowland, of Petts Wood.
