War Service:
Lance Corporal S/18993 THOMAS WILLIAM ROFE of 11th battalion Rifle Brigade was reported as Missing in Action on 15 February 1917. He enlisted in Lewisham in 1915. He joined his battalion on 10 October 1916 and in December he was admitted to hospital with trench foot which kept him out of action for seven weeks.

He has no known grave and is commemorated on the Thiepval Memorial to the Missing of the Somme.

Location of Memorial:
He is remembered on the memorials at Staplehurst in Kent and Perry Rise Baptist Church, Sydenham.

Details:
He was born in Frittenden in Kent and lived in Sydenham. He gave his occupation as sugar refiner with Travers & Sons.
