Sergeant (Air Gunner) 1323650 FREDERICK DAVID READ Royal Air Force Volunteer Reserve died in a flying accident on 19 August 1943. He was attached to ā€˜Cā€™ Flight, 1663 Heavy Conversion Unit at RAF Rufforth in Yorkshire.

During the morning of 19 August two Halifax bombers on a training flight collided killing all 14 crew members, including Frederick Read.

He is buried in Harrogate (Stonefall) Cemetery, Yorkshire.

He is also remembered on the memorial at Holy Trinity Church, Sydenham.

Details:
He was the son of Frederick David and Rose Read, of Upper Sydenham.
