Rifleman 2812 CECIL HUGH STRODES RAVENSCROFT of 1/5th battalion London Regiment (London Rifle Brigade) was killed in action on 1 July 1916, the first day of the Battle of the Somme.

He is buried and commemorated in Hebuterne Military Cemetery.

Location of Memorial:
He is remembered on the war memorial in the church of St Mary the Virgin, Lewisham.

Details:
He was 19 years old, the son of Catherine Ann Gwillym Ravenscroft, of 94, Mount Pleasant Rd., Lewisham, London, and the late Byfleet Charles Ravenscroft.
