Rainsbury, Joseph Francis

War Service: Joseph Francis Rainsbury served as a Lance Corporal with the 2nd/20th Battalion London Regiment. His service number was 632022. He died on 30th April 1918 and is buried at grave K.32 at the Jerusalem War Cemetery.

Location of Memorial: Corporal Rainsbury is remembered on the war memorial at St Paul's Church, Deptford and on the 20th London Regiment Roll of Honour.

Details: Joseph Francis Rainsbury was the son of Henry Charles and Margaret Rainsbury, of 46 Idonia Street Deptford, London.

He was born on 3rd October 1896 and was baptised on 21st October 1896 at St.Pauls, Deptford. At the time of his baptism the family were living at 44a Evelyn Street, Deptford.

In 1911 he was living with his family at 46 Idonia Street, Deptford. He was employed as an errand boy. He had three brothers Henry William, Ernest Edward and Frederick Charles and a sister Margaret May.
