Pittman, James Henry

Dates: 1881-1919

War Service: James Henry Pittman served as a Private with The Queen's (Royal West Surrey Regiment) later transferring to the Labour Corps and his service number was 20096. He died at Lewisham Military Hospital on 1st March 1919, aged 37.

Location of Memorial: He is buried in Brockley cemetery, where his name is recorded on the screen wall listing those whose graves have no headstone.

Details: James Henry Pittman was the son of James and Elizabeth Pittman. He was born on 17th November 1881 and he was baptised on 3rd July 1892 at St Paul's Church, Deptford when the family were living at Napier Street.

In 1891 he was recorded living at Berthon Street, Deptford with his parents James and Elizabeth. He had a brother, William, and three sisters; Edith, Maud and Gertrude.
