Private 8945 ROBERT PIKE of the 1st battalion King's Own (Royal Lancaster Regiment) died on 14 October 1914, probably in the attack on Meteren near Bailleul. The leading companies came under heavy machine gun and rifle fire and were then shelled. Casualties were two officers and 44 other ranks killed, 2 officers and 32 other ranks wounded and missing, 15 other ranks missing.

He has no known grave and is commemorated on the Ploegsteert Memorial.

He is remembered on the Ploegsteert Memorial and on the war memorial in St Luke’s church, Deptford.

Details:
He was the husband of Jessie B. Pike, of 36F, Finch St., High St., Deptford.
