Pilot Officer (Air Bomber) REGINALD CHARLES PIKE DFM RAFVR was killed on the night of 15/16 March 1944 while serving with 97 Squadron. P/O Pike’s Distinguished Flying Medal was Gazetted on 11 February 1944.

Lancaster OF-B took off from RAF Bourn in Lincolnshire at 1920 hours on 15 March to bomb Stuttgart. The aircraft was shot down by a night fighter and crashed at Zillhausen, killing all on board. Although by no means unique it was an unusual feature of the crew of this aircraft that they all had gallantry awards.

He is buried at Durnbach War Cemetery.

He is remembered in the book of remembrance in Addey and Stanhope school in Deptford.
