Phillips, John William

Dates: 1900-1918

War Service: John William Phillips served as a Rifleman with the 10th Battalion Rifle Brigade attached to 53rd Battalion and his service number was TR/13/84798. He died on 15th October 1918 at the VAD Hospital, Northampton, aged 18.

Location of Memorial: He is buried in Brockley cemetery, where his name is recorded on the screen wall listing those whose graves have no headstone.

Details: John William Phillips was born c1900 in Deptford to John and Catherine Phillips. His father died in 1907 aged 46. In 1911 he was recorded living at 63 Albyn Road, Deptford with his widowed mother, Catherine, and his uncle Hugh Richard Breen.
