Pembroke, John

War Service: John Pembroke served as a Private in the Queen's Own (Royal West Kent Regiment). His service number was S/8763. He died on 22nd July 1916, aged 19.

Details: John Pembroke was born on 2nd October 1897 and baptised on the 27th October 1897 at St Pauls Church, Deptford. His parents were Henry John and Mary Pembroke and he was one of eleven children, although by 1911 four of his siblings had died. The family lived at 53 Watson Street, Deptford for the majority of John's life.

His brother Joseph James Pembroke was killed also killed while on active service during the First World War.
