Parratt, Ernest Sylvester

War Service: Ernest Sylvester Parratt served as a Driver with the Royal Horse Artillery Riding Establishment and his service number was 82007. He died on 22nd November 1919 at the Royal Herbert Hospital, Woolwich, aged 29.

Location of Memorial: He is buried in Brockley cemetery, where his name is recorded on the screen wall listing those whose graves have no headstone.

Details: Ernest Sylvester Parratt was baptised on 15th June 1890 at St.Peter Wrecclesham, Surrey. His parents were William and Jane.

In 1901 he was recorded living at Upper Bourne, Wrecclesham with his parents and brothers Henry J and Albert V. The 1911 census records that he was in Portland and was employed as a seaman.

He married Florence Harriet Neary on 1st September 1919 at St James' Church, Hatcham. At this time he was living at 22 Lewisham High Road and on his marriage certificate his occupation was given as a soldier. They had a son, Ernest, who was born after his father death.
