Gunner 75468 CHARLES GEORGE PALMER of ‘D’ Battery, 117 Brigade Royal Field Artillery died on 28 November 1916, aged 22.

He is buried in Karasouli Military Cemetery, Greece. The cemetery contains 1,421 Commonwealth burials. In the Salonika campaign the areas occupied by the Allies were plagued by mosquito-borne malaria and more men died of illness than from battle injuries.

He is also remembered on the war memorial at St Bartholomew’s church, Sydenham.

Details:
He was born in Tottenham, the son of Mr. and Mrs. Thomas Palmer, of 25, Fransfield Grove, Sydenham.
