Able Seaman C/JX 279101 FRANCIS JAMES O'CONNOR died on 27 March 1943, while serving on HMS Dasher. During the afternoon of 27 March the escort carrier HMS Dasher blew up on her way back to Greenock from flying exercises in the Clyde. Of the 528 men on board, 379 were lost.

He has no known grave and is commemorated on the Chatham Naval Memorial.

He is remembered in the Brockley County School Book of Remembrance.

Details:
He was 21. He was the son of Andrew Patrick and Ida O'Connor, of Bromley. His brother Desmond was killed on 28 August 1944 while serving on HMS Melbreak.
