Rifleman HERBERT BRIGGS MORPHEW of 2/10th (Hackney) battalion London Regiment died of wounds on 11 August 1918, aged 36. He had previously served with the 17th Londons, the Poplar and Stepney Rifles.

He is buried in Pernois British Cemetery, Halloy-les-Pernois

He is remembered on the memorial at the church of St James, Hatcham.

Details:
He was the husband of Lily E. Morphew, of 19, Brindley St., New Cross. They married in West Ham in the summer of 1908.
