Mellish, Richard Coppin

Dates: 1890-1915

War Service: Richard Coppin Mellish served as a Second Lieutenant with the 1st Battalion Middlesex Regiment. He was killed in action during the Battle of Loos on 25th September 1915. He is buried in grave K.26 at Cambrin Churchyard Extension.

Details: Richard Mellish was born in Deptford 21st November 1890 to Mary and Edward Mellish. He was privately baptised on 22nd November 1890 at St Johns Church, Deptford and he was received publicly into the church on 12th April 1891. The family were living at 24 Breakspears Road.

In 1911 he was recorded on the census living at 8 Lewisham Hill, Deptford with his father, his grandmother Mary Ann Coppin and his brother Edward Noel. At this time he was employed as a bank clerk.
