Mears, Arthur Alfred

War Service:
Rifleman 1988 ARTHUR ALFRED MEARS of ‘B’ company, 21st Battalion London Regiment (First Surrey Rifles) was killed in action on 11 May 1915, aged 20.

He is buried in Guards Cemetery, Windy Corner, Guinchy.

Location of Memorial:
He was commemorated on the memorial which stood in Monson Road in New Cross

Details:
He was the son of Jonathan and Agnes Mears, of 20, Barlborough St., New Cross.

His brother Frederick Clement Mears also serving with the First Surreys, died in hospital five days later.
