Gunner 97091 GEORGE HENRY MAY of 278 Siege Battery, Royal Garrison Artillery was killed in action on 30 July 1917. He enlisted on 14 November 1915, served at Harwich and attended anti aircraft training at Shoeburyness before going to France on 18 March 1917.

He is buried in Dickebusch New Military Cemetery Extension near Ypres

He is remembered on the war memorial of the Sydenham, Forest Hill & District Tradesmen’s Benefit Society.

Details:
He married Clara Miriam Rands in Lewisham in the spring of 1910. They lived at 20 Phoenix Road, Penge.
When he enlisted his occupation was given as salesman.
