He enlisted in London, Rifleman 372194 THOMAS EDWIN MATHEWS of the 8th Battalion the London Regiment (Post Office Rifles) died of wounds on 13 October 1918, aged 23.

He is buried in Terlincthun British Cemetery, Wimille near Boulogne.

He is remembered on and St Mildred's Church WW1 War Memorial the memorial at Lee Sorting Office.

Details:
He was the son of Thomas and Phoebe Mathews of Lee.
