Rifleman 26/585 STANLEY ARTHUR MAFFEY of ‘D’ company, 4th battalion, 3rd New Zealand Rifle Brigade died on 15 September 1916.

He has no known grave and is commemorate on New Zealand memorial in Caterpillar Valley near Longueval. The memorial commemorates more than 1,200 officers and men of the New Zealand Division who died in the Battles of the Somme in 1916, and whose graves are not known.

Location of Memorial:
is remembered on the war memorial at St Hilda’s church, Brockley.

Details:
He was 31 years old, the son of Thomas and Sarah Maffey of 14, Beecroft Road, Brockley.
