Ordinary Telegraphist PETER CAREW LONDON died on the evening of Thursday 8 February 1917 when the destroyer HMS Ghurka hit a mine in the English Channel about 4 miles off Dungeness.
He was lost at sea and is commemorated on the Plymouth Naval Memorial.
Location of Memorial:
He is remembered on the memorial at Christ Church, Forest Hill.
Details:
He was born in the summer of 1898, the son of Walter and Rosina London, of 99, Stanstead Road, Forest Hill.
