Lieutenant OLLIFF SPENCER LEIGH-BENNETT of 1st Battalion, Coldstream Guards, died of pneumonia following influenza in Brighton on 17 November 1918, aged 37.

He volunteered in 1914 in the 2nd County of London Yeomanry and served in Egypt and Gallipoli. He was commissioned into the Coldstream Guards in November 1915 and served with them in France. He was severely wounded during the attack on Pilkem Ridge on 31 July 1917 and was Mentioned in Despatches for his actions that day.

He is buried in Brighton (Extra Mural) Borough Cemetery.

Location of Memorial:
He is remembered on the war memorial at the Private Banks Cricket and Athletic Club in Catford.

Details:
He was the second son of the Rev. and Mrs G S Leigh-Bennett. He was educated at All Saints School, Clifton and Rossall.
