Private G/8103 WILLIAM HENRY LARKING of 2nd Battalion Middlesex Regiment was killed in action on 1 July 1916 (the first day of the Battle of the Somme) aged 24.

He is buried in Ovillers Military cemetery.

Location of Memorial:
He is remembered on the memorial at St Stephen’s church, Lewisham High Street.

Details:
He was the son of Robert and Annie Larking of 44, Elswick Rd., Lewisham. He was born at Greenwich. His brother George was killed on 28 August in the fighting for Delville Wood.
